It is not often that fashion designing students in Hyderabad get a chance to make illustrations for an upcoming Bollywood film starring someone as huge as Salman Khan. But that was the opportunity Ashley Rebello, a leading fashion designer in Bollywood, and also Salman Khan’s stylist, presented to some.

 

As the brand ambassador for the Inter National Institute of Fashion Designing located at Himayathnagar, Rebello was in town to conduct a one day fashion workshop, and was humble as ever when he encouraged the young minds.

 

“I am here to help these students develop the skill of networking and to tell them how to build a good portfolio. Most of them are just interested in working with big stars and are attracted to the glamour,” said the designer who began his career with ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander’.

 

Given that most consider styling stars as the only career option for someone studying fashion, he opened up many more possibilities with just a one-year diploma course.

 

“There is fashion photography, there is fashion merchandising, fashion magazine editing, styling, etc. But, the only question the students kept asking was how do we enter the film industry in Hyderabad? I took 15 years to establish myself. We need to start small to make it big and that is what I told them,” he said pragmatically.
